The Way We Were

It was never about the big words
It was about the little things
Cups of coffee shared on rainy days
Graffiti on the cast, when the arm was in a sling
It was never the advices you gave
It was the jokes you shared
The way you would cause a chuckle
Jokes on subjects others would carefully tread
It was never the films you watched
It was the passion with which you described a favorite scene
Music was defined similarly by us
Some favorite lines we would scream
It wasn’t the way we briefly parted ways
It certainly wasn’t the way we were thrown back together
But it was all the things I missed about you while you were gone
It was the way I missed the way we were.

Oh! I agree with you there very much – it's never about big words. Little things, in their own way, mean so much more, so much of attachment and loves speaks for itself. Beautiful piece.
